Spooner was born in Athol, Massachusetts, in 1808. He was the son of a farmer and a schoolteacher. Spooner was a precocious child and he began reading at the age of three. He attendedいくつかの学校 before enrolling at Amherst College in 1825.

Spooner left Amherst after two years and began studying law. He was admitted to the bar in 1830 and he opened a law practice in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Spooner quickly became a successful lawyer. He was known for his wit, his intellect, and his dedication to his clients. He was also a strong advocate for individual liberty and he often defended unpopular causes.

In 1845, Spooner published his first book, The Unconstitutionality of Slavery. In this book, Spooner argued that slavery was unconstitutional because it violated the natural rights of individuals to life, liberty, and property.

Spooner's book was controversial and it helped to fuel the growing abolitionist movement. Spooner was a close friend of Frederick Douglass, and he helped to finance the publication of Douglass's newspaper, The North Star.

In 1859, Spooner published his most famous work, No Treason: The Constitution of No Authority. In this book, Spooner argued that the United States Constitution was invalid because it was not ratified by the people.

Spooner's book was highly influential among anarchists and it remains a classic of anarchist literature.

Spooner died in 1887. He was 79 years old.
